Aloha PMC ’Ohana!
I would first like to let you all know how welcome I have felt since joining this illustrious group. It’s been just over a week, yet in this short time I have felt the joyful song of aloha radiate out of this group. I’m so glad to make new friends and breathe new life into existing friendships.
I have been very busy jumping into new projects. So far I have been to a Board Meeting, Finance Meeting, Rehearsal, Website Training with Ken, and Meeting of the Minds with Daron. And read about a thousand documents and emails! (That might be a little bit of an exaggeration, but it was a lot of reading.) I am happy to say that I have honed in on the first of many projects for this group.
As we all know, we have some pretty lofty goals for our group. Many concerts, professional CD & DVD recordings, and not to mention all our outreach efforts – such as acting as ambassadors of aloha at the “GALA World Choral Gathering” in Denver, Colorado in 2012. For all of these wonderful events, we need to work together to gather the necessary resources to make each a success, and thereby be able to continue to give the gift of song to our islands, and the greater world.
The very first fundraising campaign I will be heading up will be that of the “Silent Auctions” which will occur at our upcoming concerts. At this time, I would like to ask each of you, weather you are a Board Member, Chorus Member, Volunteer, or PMC fan – will you please donate to our silent auction cause?
This season, since we will be singin’ country, I would love it if we could be bringin’ it too! I’d love to offer an array of country themed art, music, clothing, jewelry, (etc.), along with other valuable items such as gift cards, or certificates for service, etc.
We do not expect anyone to “pound the pavement” – go door to door and ask businesses for donations. Rather, I would like to see if we can promote our friends and loved ones’ businesses by inquiring their interest in advertising with us, by offering us a tax-deductible donation which will carry their name at our silent auction. Know someone who does landscaping? A massage therapist? A web designer? Ask them if they would like to work with us! (However, if any of you would like to help solicit business donations, that would also be well appreciated.)
It is our goal this year to get at least one donation for every member in our group, and if we each do our part, we can execute this flawlessly. I will be sending out an email to members regarding silent auction donations soon.
Please feel free to email me with any questions at exec@punamenschorus.org .
Mahalo,
Jessica H. Takayama - Executive Director
